Themes

The title of this episode is Invitations

The interpretation at the start states… “It’s an act of faith, not reason.” Odd choice of wording, since faith is not meant to be blind faith but a willingness to choose.

In comparison the episode focuses on two men who have used their brilliance and cunning to excel in the current world. We see them fighting against their own understanding of truth that the world has defined while trying to grasp the simple truth of the Kingdom of Heaven.

Throughout the four gospels Jesus shares the good new of the Kingdom Heaven in many forms. He teaches in stories to create a connection. … In my opinion, he likely presented many different stories because not all people process information the same way. We don’t all hear take the same truth from a single story. …

Though it isn’t stated in the Gospels that Nicodemus was invited to follow him as they show in the film, it isn’t unlikely that it could have happened, so if you have some “beef” with it, consider… that not all the miracles or acts performed by Jesus were documented.

Finally, the show ends with Jesus asking Matthew to follow him and Matthew drops everything he is doing to follow,… everything.

I’ll end on the following…

For every action there is a reaction. Whether it is positive or negative.

Matthew 7:7-8

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

  1. Are you seeking?
  2. Have you stopped seeking once you found Him?
  3. Do you persist to know Him more?
