  • Each week we ask that you watch an episode of “The Chosen” from season 1.

  • Along with watching an episode we will go over a set of questions that will be included along with the Weekly Newsletter that comes from the interactive study book designed around this series.

  • Watch for the newsletter. It will contains links to access the material for week.

” Bring out the people who are blind, yet have eyes, who are deaf, yet have ears! All the nations gather together, and the peoples assemble. Who among them can declare this, and show us the former things? Let them bring their witnesses to prove them right, and let them hear and say, It is true. ‘You are my witnesses,’ declares the LORD, ‘and my servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor shall there be any after me.’ – Isaiah 43:8–10

Other Questions and Thoughts

  • Often those of us with knowledge in a subject will reference a short segment from a topic, writing, or media because we have confidence in our understanding of the original content. However, if someone does not have the understanding of the original context, the segment can take on an entirely different meaning or idea.
  • As with all the Study Guide’s points, rather than taking small sections out the written word and doing a comparison; read the entire chapter so that you have context.

  • Are you familiar with the term covenant? Are you aware that a covenant is not just an agreement but a blood agreement? Meaning, if you broke the covenant the other party would be in their agreed upon right to take your life and all those who fall under you.
  • It’s truly amazing that the God of Abram, Isaac, and Jacob (Israel) followed through with (his) side of the agreement even though (hu)man failed on their end.
  • After watching the episode, take a look at the RoundTable discussion for this episode.
  • After the scene with Simon, we see Quintus and Matthew. Quintus says,

“You’re such a miserable lot. You worship one God, and yet, you’re all divided. You see, people complain we Romans run the world, but I know a dirty secret. You people want to be ruled. You want a an excuse to complain. It’s part of your nature.”

  • Read 1 Samual 8: The people ask for a man to be appointed a King and rule over them.
  • What does this say about man?
  • Do ever wish someone would take lead, tell you how to live, and manage your life for you?

  • Read Deuteronomy 17:14-20
  • I wonder if the section from Deuteronomy was written before or after 1 Samuel. It reads like it would be after because it states that it is obvious or common to do.
